Welcome to the facination of Amorphophallus - hold your nose!

The Amorphophallus blooms and sends out a smell of rotten meat to attract flies and other pollinators

From the tuber, Amorphophallus grows this tree looking leaf, it may looks like many leaves, but actually it is one coherent leaf and the stem is called the "petiole"
The leaf in the picture are not giant, just phographed from below, it is about 80cm.

After the growth season, the whole leaf will wither, and leaves you with this amazing dormant tuber, that probably will bloom again in the spring, and after that grow a leaf again, and a much bigger tuber in autumn.

The best soil you can use, is a mix with about 30pct. Perlite (those white stone looking grains) and some gravel 5-10pct. All to make good drainage and making the soil porous.
